Hello -
my name is Des Shortt and I qualified with a Master's degree in 2010 in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Since then I have mostly worked with a variety of NHS patients for a number of NHS Trusts in England.
As part of my professional development, I have received weekly supervision from senior therapists to ensure the best outcomes for clients. I also attend conferences and workshops to further enhance my skills.
Some of the problems that clients present with include: Generalised Anxiety; panic attacks; OCD; social anxiety; PTSD; low self-esteem; and low mood/depression.
I understand that a person may have struggled for some years with their anxiety and low mood. They may have tried self-help books and tried to live with their problems. I work with the client to assess what the issues are, and to sort out unhelpful behaviours and thinking styles from helpful ones.
If you're interested in working with me or have any questions about how CBT can help you, please don't hesitate to send me a message.
Best regards,
Desi Shortt, CBT therapist.

Many thanks for all your support and advice over the last few months I have learnt so much. Just to let you know using many of the techniques you taught me I made it to the theatre yesterday afternoon and actually enjoyed the experience. ( first time in 4 years!) I have also signed up for an eight week mindfulness course. Still a way to go but now I can see the path thank you so much.

Coming from a competitive sports background, the injury that ended up making me give up my career was a hard blow. With therapy, I was able to start building my identity around other things than just sport.
